ROMNEY MARSH WOOLS X ALLM

From September 2020, I have been working on a collaboration with Romney Marsh Wools to create their first clothing range. In November 2021 the collection launched and I am extremely proud to announce I have designed for a company, while still being in-between my studies. Between my first year of my fashion design BA course at the University of Westminster and continuing my second year at Falmouth University, I took a year out of studies due to the effects of COVID-19 on my course (sept 2020-aug 2021). It was during this year that I collaborated with RMW to create their first clothing range. Romney Marsh Wool are local to my family home in Kent. Coming from a farming background myself; the Lockwood's at Springfield Farm, Ansdore. It meant I understood the passion and ethos surrounding the wool community and just how important it was for the collection to reflect the local community and enhance the natural wools, rather than designing pieces that would juxtapose the surroundings and materials. Instead the pieces are designed for people that want to invest in sustainable and organic country wear. The garments are from Romney wool which is farmed by the Boulden family in Romney, the wool is then eventually turned into timeless garments by local craftsmen.

We have collaborated with local designer Abi Lockwood-Morris to create the collection, which includes a Unisex Waistcoat, Unisex Gilet, Ladies Longline Waistcoat and Skinny Ties. These are being handmade using our own Romney Wool by local dressmaker Mikki Southwick, which each piece being made to order.

The Unisex Waistcoat is available in 'Tawny Twill' with a paisley lining and backing and is designed to be highly versatile. It can be worn as part of a suit with a tie from the collection or casually with jeans.

The Ladies Longline Waistcoat is available in 'Marsh Fern' (grey), and designed as a fitted sleek line waistcoat that will hit mid-thigh. With grey/silver lining, this is a transitional piece that can be worn with tailored workwear and also as something to be put over a dress to be worn out. Also great with jeans and boots.

The Unisex Gilet is available in ‘Dogtooth' with a co-ordinating brown corduroy and brown paisley lining.

The Skinny Ties are available in a choice of three patterns, ’Tawny', ‘Marsh Fern', and ‘Blackthorn Traditional' Twill.

We are incredibly proud to have collaborated with local fashion design student Abi Lockwood-Morris to create a beautiful and timeless Country Wear Collection that’s bespoke to Romney Marsh Wools, using our own fleeces from the family farm. This is an exciting time for the brand as we branch out to grow our range.

Abi Lockwood-Morris is a 21 year old fashion design student from Kent, who has been studying the art of the needle since starting textiles at Secondary School, going on to complete a foundation degree at UCA Canterbury and beginning a BA Hons in Fashion Design. Taking the decision to pause her studies when Covid hit, Abi has collaborated with us to create this new collection, before returning to continue her studies at Falmouth University.

The range is available to order by following the links above, with nationwide delivery, and we will also be taking orders at our launch at the Wealden Times Mid-Winter Fair.
